Take Back Your Bandwidth

For businesses today the Internet has evolved from a being a convenience to have to a business necessity. The Internet delivers business critical applications, e-mail, and telephone conversations, while providing your company's image to the general public. The Internet is also often accused of being the biggest productivity killer for a lot of businesses. The question: Is content filtering a necessity? Here are my three reasons why my answer is Yes!

Maximize Bandwidth: For most businesses the big bandwidth hogs are the downloading of large files and the streaming of music. When either of these activities are occurring the Internet slows down for everyone.

NMGI is constantly downloading files that are pertinent to troubleshooting issues or patching client hardware and/or software. If there were end users streaming video or music, then this would make our engineers battle for bandwidth. By limiting the content users can download or be streamed on the Internet bandwidth is then maximized for the entire business.  Read more

Security on our Minds

Security is always on the minds of the NMGI team, and November is no exception. We have been working with all of our customers for a long time now to make their systems more secure, and having secure user passwords is a part of that effort.

One of the most secure ways to gain access into a system is to use two factor authentication. That is a term used to describe access that requires you to know something and to have something. The best example is taking cash from an ATM which requires two factor authentication.

You have to KNOW your PIN number, and you have to HAVE your ATM card. NMGI now offers a two factor authentication system to its customers through our new Managed Secure Access system. For many customers, however, two factor authentication and the security it brings is too much to bear. That leaves us with secure user passwords.  Read more

Lunch and Learn

Join NMGI on Wednesday November 14, 2007 from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM for an informative Lunch and Learn presentation on Business Availability Management.

In today's workplace repeated short periods of downtime can be as expensive as single catastrophic events. Its just as important to prioritize and plan for the small day-to-day interruptions as it is for major system failures.

Additionally, NMGI is pleased to have representatives from Acronis joining the lunch and learn. They will demonstrate their software and its ability to allow customers to quickly and inexpensively recover from catastrophic events through server virtualization, continuous data protection and ?bare metal? restoration of lost equipment.
