Make
Documents Look Great in Word 2007

With Microsoft Office Word 2007, you
can quickly and easily turn a plain-looking document into one that
looks professionally designed.
Use styles to quickly
format major elements in your document, such as titles,
subtitles, and headings. Start with predefined,
coordinated designs and then customize to suit your
needs. As you work, you don't need to apply formatting
and then do it again until you have what you want — just
point to a style in the dialog box to see a preview in
your document. Not quite right? Point to a different
style and see what it looks like.
Watch the demo to see how easy it is to give a plain document a
professional-looking makeover, and then give it a final polish with
headers and footers and a cover page.

NMGI Recognizes First
National Bank of Liberal
Network Management Group, Inc. (NMGI) would like to
recognize First National Bank (FNB) of Liberal in our
first Client Spotlight. FNB Liberal recently moved into
their brand new facility with NMGI providing key
hardware components and helping with the extensive
technology move. The bank is currently one of NMGIs
Core Managed Services Clients. The Bank recently signed
up for the NetCare Services and NetRescue Disaster
Recovery Program to provide even higher levels of
reliability for the bank. “In my opinion, Network
Management Group has a great group of people working for
them, and they are the reason I choose to do business
with them. It really isn’t about the price, but NMGIs
proven desire to help our business succeed.” Joel Cash,
FNB Liberal IT Director.

Ensure IT Resilience
Creating an IT
Infrastructure for Business Continuity
Business
continuity is an issue that no organization can afford to
ignore. In fact, according to The Definitive Handbook for
Business Management, between 60 and 90 percent of companies
without a proactive disaster plan find themselves out of
business within 24 months of experiencing a major disaster.
Increasingly,
IT power and cooling are becoming more important as factors
in ensuring business continuity. These 10 steps provide a
good start for ensuring the integrity and availability of
your IT systems.
1. Assess
your situation.
Review existing power and cooling systems to identify
threats and vulnerabilities to business continuity.
2. Ensure
the physical security of your equipment
While large data centers often have strict access policies
and procedures, smaller locations or more remote locations
may not. It’s important to use racks that come with key or
card swipe locks and contact closures that protect against
unauthorized access. These locks and closures can be
connected to your network so you can easily provide
authorizations and monitor access. Within the rack, smart
PDUs enable control of individual receptacles. This prevents
unauthorized equipment additions that can overload circuits
and create a power outage.

NMGI Upgrades Infrastructure
Please allow us to take a brief moment to bring you up to date
on several new changes at NMGI. We have recently made
significant financial and internal investments in our own
technology to keep pace with our industry and better serve our
clients…
In the first half of 2008 we’ve install new HP ProCurve Switches
throughout our facility to provide Power over Ethernet (POE)
capability and greater bandwidth to over 72 different locations
and devices. In addition we upgraded our production servers to
Microsoft Windows 2008 and the latest versions of Office and
Exchange 2007.
We’ve installed VMWare software to virtualize almost every
server in our company (over 17). In addition we updated our
internal “Business Continuity and Disaster Plan” to ensure the
safety of our data, for our clients and our firm, in the event
of a natural disaster. We also installed a Hewlett Packard
Storage Area Network (SAN) and placed a Net Rescue appliance in
our own facility for protection, as we have for most of our
NetCare managed service clients. This appliance ensures uptime
and allows us to store our data both on-site and off-site for
ease of restore and total protection in case of disaster.
Just nine short months ago we upgraded our accounting software
to Microsofts Great Plain Dynamics version 10. This significant
investment is now beginning to pay huge dividends. Our sales tax
calculations are accurate and much easier to calculate. Our
reporting is more timely and very soon we’ll be able to invoice
via email and avoid mailing and statement charges for clients
who want to be more paperless.
Now the reason for todays article… By the end of July we will
have completed our transition to our new Voice over IP phone
system (VOIP). We’ve completely replaced all the phones, voice
mail, and retired the old infrastructure with new LINUX based
software specially configured by us. This system and features
will be available in 4th quarter for installation at our
client’s sites. Our phone numbers and number of phone lines will
remain the same.
We believe these changes and investments in our business will
show up in improved levels of service and support to you our
clients. It is important that we test, evaluate, and implement
products and services in a production environment before
delivering them to our clients. Please let us know if you have
any questions about the technology we are using that might help
your business as well.
Please feel free to call or visit our location to witness the
changes we have made… The bottom-line is to “be prepared” for more
enhanced service options when calling, emailing, or visiting NMGI.
